Sturbridge road race CAT4, May 2006.
This was my first as a CAT4, I was unsure what to expect. I was glad we had full use of both lanes - there was no yellow line rule. In the end I didn't win but I had my highest ranked finish for a road race, @ 4th. I even got a pay out of $100! No crashes and no breaks within the field left us all to a mass-finish. Picking my way through the finishing field I jumped from wheel to wheel moving on up, thinking hey - I might just be in this to contend the finish. I passed what felt like 20+ guys. My teammate Greg Brown whom took 1st later told me our sprint was 40+mph.
Once the sprint was over I couldn't even turn my head because I was so tense. Literally my neck was locked in position and that's when I realized riding in a field double the size I was used to is going to require some more relaxation.
